Keep Up the Fight

--Lauren stood upon the mist-covered ground. She had received no external injuries from the fight, but neither had her opponent. Why, then, did she feel as if she could hardly heft her spear? The other one's shadow trickled toward her own, and she attempted to step out of the way, but it was in vain. As the serpentine tendrils of darkness reached her, she felt another wave of that indescribable pain. She staggered, but she did not fall. She had to keep fighting! She would never prove herself as worthy of the royal guard if she could not... Dark magic stuff happened all of the time, she told herself. If she couldn't face this, what was she but a pony with a small talent with a spear?

In spite of the great pain, she charged the yellow-eyed pony once more.--


I had this sketch done for a bit of Lauren at this interesting angle, so I thought I'd try something a little more with it. xD As you may have guessed, the "yellow-eyed" pony is Aryn's dark form. Shortly after she became a problem, but before the rulers of the land could do anything about it, Lauren decided she would try to take down this monstrous apparition by herself. She's always wanted to prove herself, and this is her chance. However, Aryn's dark form knows a bit about dark magic, and Lauren knows next to nothing about it, so she has little chance of beating Aryn.
